If you want to read the works that have a big influence on fiction literature and are referenced often, then just read The Iliad and The Odyssee. If you don't know much about mythology, it might be good to read a book about that, too.

What possibly reason would you have for not including Plato and Aristotle in any "starting with the Greeks" list? Why would you even attempt to imply that its somehow common sense that they should be separated for god knows what reason?

Good way to expose yourself. Newfags listen, this is who will appear on threads and derail them an this is the content of its character. Let yourself be adviced.

>> No.19283881

You need to learn to like the Greeks first before diving too deep. Read Homer then read the tragedians. If you're not hooked after that you're not going to pay enough attention to properly digest the philosophers and lesser known figures.

>> No.19283890

>>19283868
Newfag. You and yours are derailing it.
My advice was a mnemonic I’ve given before
Start with a preSocratic, but don’t get bogged down with philosophy
UNLESS YOU WANT TO. If you do, you read Plato’s Socrates etc.
bitch
