Codex Seraphinianus by Luigi Serafini. It isn't exactly the same, but is similar it is a weird and alien encyclopedia made by some alien race in a lsd fantasy world.

Dougal Dixon also wrote After Man, which looks at animal evolution. A different guy wrote a thing called Snaiad, about the evolution of mammal equivalents on an alien planet where all living things have a trunk-like jaw that chews food and spits it out into a toothless sucking mouth located on their abdomen.

I watched that one popular video about this recently. The concept is kind of interesting, but I find the time scale to be absolutely retard. There were a lot of dumb ideas too, like the fish people who bred organic rocket ships that took them into space.
