Like, their businesses have destroyed a lot of middle-class jobs by offering the same services, formerly provided by other companies which employed more people, for free; and they take a cut from selling your information (which you provide for free to access those services) to providers of others goods and services who want to advertise to you. Facebook is like a middleman in a sense with a near-monopolistic position and their trade is data. And they don't employ many people relative to the value they've sucked up from other sectors which they've "disrupted," which is why Zuckeberg is worth $120 billion.

So society is getting worse and people are miserable, and social conflicts are intensifying. And then Facebook makes money from driving engagement. Far-right stuff is easily compatible with this (probably even more compatible than other ideologies) because it tends to be highly emotional in content. Nationalism, hatred, fear, disgust. It's like pornography. People get addicted to it and Facebook was the dope dealer. It's like blowback or chickens coming home to roost and it threatened their whole business. Now they're banning white supremacists, but they are probably as guilty as anyone in creating the problem. Does anyone still use it?
