I'm like 120 pages in and I can't help but feel like I'm wasting my time. Any experiences with this fat stack of lunacy? Should I keep going?

>it if you hate it
I don't hate it. Some of it is pretty funny, and other parts even seem like they're touching on some huge ideas. I just cant get used to the fucking relentless non-sequiturs and the stream-of-conscious sequencing

Robert Anton Wilson was a literal based retard, or a based schizo if you will. Read him as a meta-fiction of sorts, even his non-fiction, don't take him truly serious, but do it as a piece of entertainment that transcends fiction. This of course IS fiction.

Lol, this was my exact experience reading this 9 years ago. Picked it up again a few weeks ago, and now 600 pages in, its pretty funny.
But desu it really is just more of the same. Seems like they got stuck in a rut with the 'research' and the schizophrenic style of narration.

read it at age 20 or so in a heavy DUDE DRUGS and counterculture phase and it was like a great rambling celebration, parody, and self-destruction of all that. but not a lot of real intellectual content to it, even as compared to other new ageish stuff. it's basically a comic.

probably read best young, impressionable, full of confusion and drugs

You may get used to it, think about it as representing an acid trip. There's some great, mind blowing stuff in the books.

It sucks and he sucks. I read too many of this guy's books when I was 20. I'll save you the time.
His message: you determine what you see. The perception is not the object.
To Wilson, your mind may be literally controlling your reality and his solution was to concentrate your mental power on a world you would like to see; a misguided and malignant conclusion as he proceeded to hold every cancerous opinion possible. Fuck him, he is literally the truest and worst pseud of all time. His work reeks of weakness and perversion.
But to give the devil his due, you do in fact determine what you see and how you perceive a thing is not the thing in itself. You just don't need RAW to figure that one out.
