To the anons talking about Monge: I'll give Las tierras arrasadas a chance too. And to the anon that mentioned Schweblin, I'd recommend you check out Distancia de rescate, I though it was a really good Short novel, maybe you'd enjoy that better than her short stories. It's also really short, I finished it in around two hours.
> Borges is seen as a fascist author by modern Argentine academia?
Do they really dislike him for that? I've seen the same accusation been made towards him by intellectuals from the 70s but they all conceded he was a great writer.

Don't let this masterpiece be lost because of the jannies

ODA A KEVIN ORIÓN

HIJO DE LA RAZA CÓSMICA, PRESENTE A TODAS HORAS
ADALID DE IMPERIOS CAÍDOS EN DESHONRA
ENTRE ANÓNIMOS RESALTA POR NOBLEZA Y BIZARRÍA
EL HIDALGO PEGADO A UNA NARIZ SUPERLATIVA

DE ROSTRO PÁLIDO, OCULTO DEL SOL
PELO DE CEPILLO, OJOS SIN EXPRESIÓN
NARIZ DE CÓNDOR Y CUERPO ESBELTO
GOZA NUESTRO HÉROE DE AGUILEÑO ASPECTO

NÍNFULAS VEO EN SUS OJOS INYECTADOS DE SANGRE
NÍNFULAS QUE HACEN QUE DE MUJERES SE GUARDE
PUES CELIBATO MANTIENE, EN CATÓLICA MAJESTAD
CASTIDAD DE TRES DÉCADAS QUE NO PIENSA ENTREGAR

ES DOCTO EN LA HISPÁNICA LENGUA DE LA CIVILIZACIÓN,
CONOCEDOR TAMBIÉN DEL BALBO MERCANTIL ANGLOSAJÓN
¿SERÁ, QUIZÁS, POR SU GRAN HABILIDAD CON LAS LENGUAS
QUE HA LLEGADO A SER CONOCIDO COMO EL "GENIO DEL ESPERMA"?

MÁS DESDE LA NOCTA OBSCURIDAD EL ENEMIGO LE ACECHA:
LA PÉRFIDA ALBIÓN Y EL BANQUERO DE JUDEA
DEMIURGOS DE INFELIZ LOCUCIÓN QUE SIEMPRE LE AZOTA
LA ESPURIA AMÉRICA LATINA, TORTURANDO SU ALMA BARROCA

QUIJOSTECAMENTE COMBATE CONTRA EL IMPÍO,
CONTRA EL HEREJE Y CONTRA EL JUDÍO
CON MAYÚSCULAS SIEMPRE LES DEPURA
EL TRIPFAG DE LA TRISTE FIGURA

UNA CRUZ GAMADA GUARECE SU CORAZÓN
UN ASPA DE BORGOÑA, Y EL ROSTRO DE DIOS
ENFRENTADO EN UNA ETERNA GUERRILLA DE ATRICIÓN
SE VE EL GALLARDO KEVIN ORIÓN

ODE TO KEVIN ORION

SON OF THE COSMIC RACE, PRESENT AT ALL HOURS
CHAMPION OF EMPIRES FALLEN IN DISGRACE
AMONG THE ANONYMOUS HE STANDS OUT FOR NOBILITY AND BIZARRENESS
THE HIDALGO GLUED TO A SUPERLATIVE NOSE

WITH A PALE FACE, HIDDEN FROM THE SUN
BRUSH HAIR, EXPRESSIONLESS EYES, A CONDOR'S NOSE
CONDOR'S NOSE AND SLENDER BODY
OUR HERO OF AQUILINE ASPECT ENJOYS

NYMPHS I SEE IN HIS BLOODSHOT EYES
NYMPHS THAT MAKE HIM KEEP HIMSELF AWAY FROM WOMEN
FOR CELIBACY HE KEEPS, IN CATHOLIC MAJESTY
CHASTITY OF THREE DECADES THAT HE DOES NOT THINK OF SURRENDERING

HE IS LEARNED IN THE HISPANIC LANGUAGE OF CIVILIZATION,
ALSO A CONNOISSEUR OF THE ANGLO-SAXON MERCANTILE BALBO
IS IT PERHAPS BECAUSE OF HIS GREAT SKILL WITH LANGUAGES THAT HE HAS COME TO BE KNOWN AS THE
THAT HE HAS COME TO BE KNOWN AS THE "GENIUS OF SPERM"?

BUT FROM THE DARKNESS OF THE NIGHT THE ENEMY STALKS HIM:
THE PERFIDIOUS ALBION AND THE BANKER OF JUDEA
DEMIURGES OF UNHAPPY LOCUTION THAT ALWAYS SCOURGE HIM
THE SPURIOUS LATIN AMERICA, TORTURING HIS BAROQUE SOUL

WHO FIGHTS AGAINST THE UNGODLY,
AGAINST THE HERETIC AND AGAINST THE JEW
WITH CAPITAL LETTERS ALWAYS PURGES THEM
THE TRIPFAG OF THE SAD FIGURE

A SWASTIKA GUARDS HIS HEART
A BURGUNDY CROSS, AND THE FACE OF GOD
CONFRONTED IN AN ETERNAL GUERRILLA OF ATTRITION
THE GALLANT KEVIN ORIO IS SEEN

Recomendaciones de obras del siglo de oro español?

>>18403609
Well, sort of. In most academic circles people claim he was a right wing extremist who supported the last military coup; he did for a while then disavowed it. Borges was a known anarchist who disliked Peronism and wasn’t afraid of letting the world know; that’s the real reason why most intellectuals (who are in bed with most would-be peronist regimes) dislike Borges’s political views (even though he didn’t give much of a fuck about politics).
Argie academia is full of far-left cocksuckers stuck in the ideological Cold War, though. They are not worth the trouble nor they are smart enough to be taken seriously. Daily reminder that Bloom was right.

Unironically, no. Ironically, yes.

Borges was from the liberal-conservative tradition of Argentina politics, this is: anglophilia, centralism towards Buenos Aires (unitarios), and hatred towards populism (which was represented by figures like Rosas in the 19th century, or Perón in the 20th). In Argentina they called them "gorilas." Although, i might say, at least in his youth, Borges was fairly progressive, Perón changed everything.

I've learnt spanish in high school but I haven't really used in 12 years. I think the better way to reactivate what I known is to read a book in spanish. I'm french so the vocabulary shouldn't be an issue but I'm looking for an easy and short book to try and reacquaint myself with the language.
