It's a kid's book. It has to be simple. I wrote a kid's book looking for a more accurate portrayal of Greek myth. Really simple. Low number of words used, like Harry Potter.

My dad was so happy I did something other than neet that he gave it to a punisher, who of course didn't give any helpful feed back aside from saying the Zeus transforming into a frog rape scene to start was "horrendous" (it was written at grade level and not too graphic).

Yes, there was a rape scene. Zeus raping is how many heros were born. I invented a new hero, Pepeius, who could be inserted into multiple myths to make them fun for kids.

Part of this meant keeping the stories fully true to the original, because the originals are reflections of Jungian archetypes, they are tied deeply to the nature of human reality.

It wasn't graphic. It mentions how Zeus saw the hero's mom at a festival and tried to court her but was rebuffed by her and her mom when he was in the guise of a man. One day by a pond he comes to her as a frog and tries to ask her out again. She plays hide the holes to try to get more out of her, like God promises. It's a short little passage where he frog hops he to the ground and hops on her stomach until she faints. Then Zeus "finds his pleasure," and "fills her with seed." She wakes up alone by the pond, injured, but ok otherwise. Then the story goes on. I actually censored a lot of the other myths.

So fuck you. I might be a neet who lived of his parents and smokes weed and plays vidya all day (really just post on /v/ about vidya) but I actually went to really good schools that my dad went to and studied the classics. I know their worth. People want to water them down and ruin them.

I'm probably a neet because Western civilization and elan vital was kept from me. I wanted to help others like me, and I did do through a literary work that I stand by.

I've read hundreds of middle grade books. I work in the genre.

Rowling's prose, especially in the early novels, is never great, and even shoddy at times. There is great writing for children. Rowling isn't it.

But the story works. The characters are forever memorable. It's a world readers want to return to. It's a world readers never want to leave.

You can't fix an uninteresting fantasy world with great prose.

Call me a newfag but what makes good or bad prose/writing? I don't think I'm good at distinguishing it beyond simplistic terms. For example, I recently read Senlin Ascends. I initially thought the prose was bad and just paragraphs of infodumping in the first third of the book, but got better as the story progressed. But beyond that, I don't really know if I can say anything about the writing being "good" or "bad."

It does some things very well and other things very poorly.
I think it's badly written and also one of the most entertaining things I had read at the time. You might love it, you might despise it.
If the concept doesn't turn you off, I'd say give it a try. There's something of a shift in focus and tone after the first few chapters, so you could wait that out if you're on the fence. (There's another drift much later on, so if you lose interest halfway through, don't bother pressing on to the end.)

I thought they just saw jews as an enemy/scapegoat. They saw the jewish germans still having wealth after WW1 and assumed it must have been stolen wealth.
