It exists and has the potential to be called a mental illness as much as anything else since we literally decide what is and isn't considered mental illness. Considering we are all doomed to die in the end, bisexuality seems like the optimal way to live and people who are naturally inclined should engage with life this way as there is literally no rational reason not to. I dont see why modern day society has such an issue with it. The Ancient Greeks figured it out over 2 millennia, and Christianity and Abrahamic religions decided too mess all that up with illogical, and completely fabricated rules in order to control the masses. The fact even Homosexuality is so disputed in modern society just goes to show how insidious and destructive more modern religions have been to humanity.
