It's a high IQ subject. The average graduate IQ is as high as it is in math and physics.

It has no purpose. Your obligations won't change, no matter what belief system you choose. You still have to wake up, eat, shit, and die. In order to sustain your life, you have to make money to eat enough to survive, which necessitates a compromising of your ideals. (unless you intend to die next week, or live as an ascetic, but even asetics eat and sleep sometimes)
In essence, you're just deluding yourself. Whether you're a hedonistic office drone, or a stoicist office drone, or a buddhist office drone, outside your head, you're still living the same life.
