Need books recommendations on town planning and/or historical/history of architecture, specifically English. Been thinking about taking a masters in architecture and town planning, but I didn't do anything vaguely related to either at undergrad and I'd need to ascertain a basic understanding of both to make sure that I actually want to do the masters and so that I can actually participate in doing it.

Any reccs or charts pertaining?

Architecture is very pozzed. Most books have a strong (post-)modernist bias.

I've ordered Architecture: An Introduction To The History And Theory Of The Art Of Building by Lethaby, W. R (a Victorian-era intro), and I've just started the 'A Very Short Introduction To' for architecture and city planning, but I'm wanting to get a better jump on it.

In fairness I'll accept pre-modernism/pre-postmodernist reccs, similar to the above book I've ordered.

I won't lie, the more modern and more city-orientated stuff is far less interesting. I resonate far more with town and village planning, Poundbury and Fairford Leys tier stuff. But I'm pessimistically aware I'll have to delve into that sort of stuff as well.
