Let's try that again.
Any good fairy tale/fable reimaginings or retellings?
Doesn't need to be overtly dark but it's always fun seeing an author taking a new spin or even a continuation on these long shared stories.

Any sci fi inspired by the Age of discovery or later geographical expeditions, taking place on a spaceship travelling through an inhospitable unexplored region of space and somehow cut off from the rest of human space fleet, where the crew must face hardship, starvation, diseases, malfunctions, forced cannibalism, etc? I don't know what he'd conclude, but it would be something more than dismissing you as crazy, I'm sure of that. Also, if I remember correctly, he was able to spot a skinspy by looking at its face and realizing it wasn't motivated by a soul. According to Bakker, we don't have souls, so presumably if you were inserted into Earwa you would have no soul (whew!) and Kellhus would realize that. I think he would think you're a tekne creation and Consult spy with cover so deep you don't even realize it. It would not end well for you, but you could rest assured that at least it would end.

>LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of computer RPGs with science-fiction and fantasy novels.[1] The term is a neologism introduced in 2013. The proponents of the term state that in LitRPG, games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story, and visible RPG statistics (for example strength, intelligence, damage) are a significant part of the reading experience.[2] This distinguishes the genre from novels that tie in with a game, e.g. those set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons,[1] or books that are actual games, such as the choose-your-own-path Fighting Fantasy type of publication. Typically, the main character in a LitRPG novel is consciously interacting with the game or game-like world and attempting to progress within it.

No, sex is biological sex, gender are characteristics that are socially or culturally associated with sex. For example there's no biological reason why skirts, dresses and make up would be considered feminine. That's gender.

The term is hopelessly muddled through trans activists who try to conflate the terms gender and sex to further nefarious goals.

Question about Prince of Nothing
In the first book a common element is that one of the reasons the Cishaurim are terrifying is because, without the Mark, it's impossible to tell that they're a sorcerer. But also all the Cishaurim appear to have empty eye sockets. Is this not just as dramatic of a tell, one that doesn't even require someone to be a member of the Few to see it?

I think Bakker's books are surprisingly popular with women, because of all the homolust between the male characters, and the women that appeal to depraved female readers. Esmi is a powerful woman who is desired by all and has a measure of control even over the god emperor through her attractiveness, and Sercha is fodder for rape and domination fetishists (the two most common fetishes for women).

Loved The Fifth Season, just finished reading it and it was great, couldn't put it down and read it in less than a week. My only complaint is the usage of somewhat modern expressions which I found a bit jarring, but it wasn't widespread thankfully. Also didn't understand why people were bothered by the 2nd person in some of the chapters, I guess they never heard about the epistolary genre. I don't know if I would give it a prize but it was definitely a solid book. Wouldn't recommend it here though for the reasons you mentioned and because it was written by a black woman which would probably bother the /pol/acks.

Besides Bakker's work, the Malazan series, and the Middle-Earth canon (as imparted to us through the writings of Tolkien and later, his son Christopher), what other fantasy series bear the "mark of autism" or are worthy to stand among those previously mentioned works? It was part of the charm of her writing for me, plus it fits the tone of the book in my opinion; a lot of the time she's literally seething, the problem is when she explodes and goes into a diatribe sprinkled with modern expressions.
Agreed on her world-building, it was top-notch and very engaging. I'm just going to read all three books in a row, even if they decline in quality. I just want to see the conclusion to the story.
>Plus all the gay sex.
Gay rape incest isn't a meme, I just can't read anything that's too much like a YA in tone anymore, it must be edgy and grimdark or I just lose interest. I mean how can you if you aren't a kid and after reading Wolfe, Cook, Martin, Bakker etc. the rest just seems bland.

No bulli
- Once again, higher powers are playing chess with the lives of humans, said Ssyba staring at Izzmahil with a spine-chilling gleam in her cat eyes.
Then Izzmahil stared back at her, remote as a mountain, and she understood the breadth, the sheer vastness of the spirit beyond those black eyes. What he had lived, the places that he had traveled riding on top of hellish entelodonts, might just as well be on another world.
- It must be done like that, cat!
And the alarming tone of the man’s voice raised suspicions in Ssyba.
- What do you mean? she asked.
- The government can't cope with the mysteries and the powers of the rest of the world, replied Izzmahil. Why do you think our societies are huddled together on the edge of these planet-wide deserts, against the foot of the mountains and on river sides?
- Why?
- A lot is left unexplained, replied Izzmahil in a wheeze, and a lot is far more dangerous to men than the iron and bronze of other men. The sacrifices of few are worth the lives of many.
- I’ll take your word for it, shrugged Ssyba, but she started to listen to Izzmahil with distant scrutiny.
- The world out there is so magical you won’t believe, the man continued with less emotion than Ssyba would have liked. You don’t know how it grinds this rock we call our world. It’s strange. If you would believe me, if you stopped being so animal, I would tell you about snakes so large as to blot our beloved river, Na-jid, in a single gulp. There are ruins of an ancient civilization, nothing more than hills and cliffs to your eyes but believe you me, those were buildings at one point. And then there’s the edge, the true edge, of the desert.
- Where’s the edge on a planet-wide desert? asked Ssyba with bemused politeness, having learned herself how the world was actually spherical and not map-like.
- The sky of course, and those powers who have conquered it.
