I'm trying to think of a word for the situation where you pre-emptively moderate or censor your speech to someone else, with like a stated acknowledgement that you're doing so to placate or pacify them

Like if you were referring to the actually act of doing so
Like self-censorship but that's not the word

I haven't lied to him. That's what my prof told me. The only other thing I could think of is "code switching" but I am pretty sure that's just what liberals do when they talk to minorities.

I have seen filtering used like "I constantly have to filter myself at work or they will fire me in 2 seconds" it was in YA, strong woman, manchild adventure books so its not fit for serious lit. use moderation
