Will I be enlightened after reading this?

you be as braindead as the yoga moms who read it. probably better than reading evola though.

>> No.17515979

unlike steppenwolf that one is actually pretty ok

No you won’t because Shankara (pbuh) exposed Buddhism as sophistic nihilism and Buddhists have never recorded since.

Meds, NOW.

I only read beneath the wheel..
Don't remember most of it, except that it was kinda gay

Hesse is probably one of the most midwit people to ever get the Nobel. His books are slightly above YA.

most ya books are bloated and like 800 pages. hesse is nothing like that. he basically writes little jungian novellas that you actually have to be well into adulthood to get anything out of.

Not really, you would wish you was so you could get some pussy and financial success.

I read Steppenwolf and couldn't relate to it because I'm not a socially awkward autist.

The problem with Hesse is that he was a pussy, but to suggest he is a midwit says all I need to know about you. And if you’re curious, I think you’re stupid.

Unironically really enjoyed this book, wouldn't say it enlightened me but something about the way Hesse effortlessly adjusted his prose to writing in verse, feels right.
Siddhartha searches for fulfillment in life in organized religion, friendship, sex and physical pleasure, wealth, but finally realizes that there is no true meaning, only existence. That was my take anyways.

t. Read the book nine years ago on a sleeper train traveling across the midwest.

God I fucking hate Western Buddhist bullshit
Buddhism fucking sucks

>> No.17516223

It's a good book about a guy who goes on a journey to find purpose. It's well written from what I remember. I wouldn't expect to finish it and feel enlightened, that's stupid to expect that from a book.

You're an idiot

Pretty much this. Although I will say Siddhartha is only excellent as an entry point into such psychology and eastern philosophy. Hesse is a fabulous writer. Knulp and Wandering are two overlooked novellas that I recommend. He’s just a comfy author.

more enlightened than any from reading any Buddhism scripture
