if you're going to shill your own book, you should make it free to read and download, and then charge for a paperback.

Yeah, my family was mormon when I was a kid. Basically, it's a fanfic ripoff of protestantism. Mormons believe that Joseph Smith found a set of gold plates in upstate NY that contained a new holy book, written after the new testament. This book chronicled the transatlantic passage of a bunch of Jews from Israel to America. They were led by the prophet Levi and his sons Nephi and Laman. When Levi died, the tribe began calling themselves the Nephites; they followed Nephi and were righteous and devout. Laman went his own way--his followers were the Lamanites, and they sinned of the spirit and the flesh, committing lechery and worshipping false idols. Because of their wickedness, God cursed the Lamanites with dark skin, and cast them out of the holy land--they eventually became the precursors of the Native American Indians. Meanwhile, Nephi continued his lineage, which eventually produced the prophet Mormon and his son Moroni. Mormon wrote down the whole history on the apocryphal gold plates, and Moroni later appeared to Joseph Smith as an angel.

It should be obvious that Joseph Smith never let anyone see the gold plates. He transcribed them from behind a curtain to his wife (because he was illiterate.) Afterward, he said that the angel came back to reclaim the plates. The book of Mormon contains a large amount of plagiarism from the KJV.

In general, Mormons believe that America is God's chosen land. They believe Jesus was His representative on Earth, and He will one day return. The Mormon afterlife is separated into three tiers of heaven-- at the top, the Celestial, then the Terrestrial, and finally the Telestial. Also, there is a hell. Mormons believe each righteous person will inherit a planet in the afterlife, and be able to travel between all other planets. They also do wear special underwear, the same kind that is worn during baptism. Mormons also practice total abstinence--no sex until marriage, no drugs of any kind (including caffeine). Mormons were polygamous until recently. They also started allowing black people to hold office (mainly at the lowest level of deacon) in 1976 or 78.
