Joshua Slocum had a pretty good death. He made a decent living off writing about his seafaring adventures (which were honestly wild at times) and then when the money began to run out and his fame was pretty much faded he set out on a new grand journey and disappeared at sea. The coverage of this event being related to his literary success helped to immortalize his works and it's a very fitting way to go.
