Which traditions are you talking about specifically? Because some behaviors continue (such as having family over for Christmas/Thanksgiving) but most of them are completely gone. Just look at the Church calendar during the middle ages and see how many holidays/saints parties they had, how many local festivals and rituals, how many opportunities for community to get together.

There's something profoundly sad about this and I have yet to see anyone put it to words. Other then Liberals with their 'cancel thanksgiving' or their weird recent obsession with hating on traditional holiday meals.

The cycle of the year itself is coming undone into an endless haze of workweeks and weekends. Only the most exoteric aspects of certain consumerized, secularized holidays will remain.

They are already dead, bro, the ones you still see taking place are zombified versions of themselves that serve the consumeristic civilization that we’ve degenerated into. On Christmas we celebrate a coca-cola mascot that teaches kids to be consumers (be good and you will get product), on Easter we celebrate a fuckin’ rabbit who gives chocolate eggs, on Valentine’s Day we help the florist industry survive another year, on Saint Patrick’s Day we celebrate Irish culture by getting drunk and being full degenerates. On thanksgiving we give thanks by consooming sports and eating like gluttons.
Only, in more traditional cultures you will see more holidays taking place, but even then they are a bastardization. For example, in Romania they get the day off for the Feat of Mary, but very few people actually celebrate it, most people go the beach or something like that.

I think so socialism is an autistic pipedream whose endgoal will never happen just because of basic facts of human nature and economic theory, but the unfettered robber barron capitalism we live in now is just as erosive to the human soul and society.

Nothing wrong with tradition, its tradition to be alive for example. But many traditions are done merely because its an easy shortcut to self-denial, and not because the tradition is one of love. I love to eat dinner with my family on Christmas, and this is traditional. However, if it were me loving the fact that other people eat Christmas dinner with their families, despite the fact that I am a rotten man incapable of such a thing, I think the tradition in that case is only letting the citizenship without participation sickness fester rather than truncating off the envy, jealousy, resentment and loneliness.

Traditions are about social cohesion and societal stability, they gather people together, create a situation for people to care about eachother, to meet, to offer gifts, etc.
A post-tradition society is one of social isolation and societal unrest. One where the only preoccupation of Man is to consume and work (in order to consume some more)
A post-tradition society moves and shakes in all directions, not because its intelligentsia is fruitful and induces positive progress, but because it is dead, the shaking is that of millions of maggots devouring it from the inside.

I never got this irrational defense of the form of capitalism we have now. Yes capitalism is infinitely better than socialism because it’s actually viable and does allow for the average person to make ends meet if not thrive. But at the same time, the form of capitalism we have now is very mush out of touch with human nature. It kinda only considers the material needs of people and not really the spiritual ones, the end goal of it is to get rich and not to fall ensure the common good first and foremost, it isn’t environmentally sustainable in the long term and it leads to people treating all relationships as transactional instead of self-sacrificial. That’s not to mention how it undermines artisans and entrepreneurship due to the large amount of power/wealth corporations hold and how they use propaganda to let women and minorities into the workforce en masse to decrease wages, destroying the traditional family dynamic and ethnic communities like the black community and promoting dysgenic behaviors and consumption and thus weakening societal bonds along with exploiting workers in various ways to make profit for the people at the top and their cronies in government.

People may call me a socialist, but I’m not (in my honest estimation, socialism has the exact same problems and then adds on a body count). I just don’t see how this unfettered robber baron style capitalism isn’t indicative of our decline as a culture. I

>> No.17113276

It's true that capitalism is anti-trad and anti-people, but it's also worse than socialism economically. The situation today is very different from the 70s and the 80s - central planning hit a technological bottleneck back then that doesn't exist today. Some socialist bugmen have written decent critiques of that - for example, check out "The People's Republic of Walmart". Megacorps today are basically centrally planned.

it's basically buying into the feeling of things being special as well as literally buying things. the traditions are useful because they make people money. most people in the us celebrate Christmas but relatively few do it because of religious reasons. this is a snapshot of the future where cultural identity is essentially sold to us through product, but first biological/ancestral attachment to those cultures needs to be erased before that can happen.

It's the opposite, people cling to traditions in search of the lost meaning even more. Not unreasonably, as tradition - through simple mechanism of Goebbels repetition - were the keepers of soul. This doesn't work once Hitler (soul) is dead though, the propaganda is meaningless.
