Just look at the Church calendar during the middle ages and see how many holidays/saints parties they had, how many local festivals and rituals, how many opportunities for community to get together.

Nothing wrong with tradition, its tradition to be alive for example. But many traditions are done merely because its an easy shortcut to self-denial, and not because the tradition is one of love. I love to eat dinner with my family on Christmas, and this is traditional. However, if it were me loving the fact that other people eat Christmas dinner with their families, despite the fact that I am a rotten man incapable of such a thing, I think the tradition in that case is only letting the citizenship without participation sickness fester rather than truncating off the envy, jealousy, resentment and loneliness.

I never got this irrational defense of the form of capitalism we have now. Yes capitalism is infinitely better than socialism because it’s actually viable and does allow for the average person to make ends meet if not thrive. But at the same time, the form of capitalism we have now is very mush out of touch with human nature. It kinda only considers the material needs of people and not really the spiritual ones, the end goal of it is to get rich and not to fall ensure the common good first and foremost, it isn’t environmentally sustainable in the long term and it leads to people treating all relationships as transactional instead of self-sacrificial. That’s not to mention how it undermines artisans and entrepreneurship due to the large amount of power/wealth corporations hold and how they use propaganda to let women and minorities into the workforce en masse to decrease wages, destroying the traditional family dynamic and ethnic communities like the black community and promoting dysgenic behaviors and consumption and thus weakening societal bonds along with exploiting workers in various ways to make profit for the people at the top and their cronies in government.

People may call me a socialist, but I’m not (in my honest estimation, socialism has the exact same problems and then adds on a body count). I just don’t see how this unfettered robber baron style capitalism isn’t indicative of our decline as a culture. I

The situation today is very different from the 70s and the 80s - central planning hit a technological bottleneck back then that doesn't exist today.
