I don’t know but from reading his so called “masterpiece” he seemed like a big buffoon and I couldn’t really stand much longer to see him embarrass himself talking about God and Disneyworld and trying to make some inane comparison only a frenchie high on his own farts could make, so I tossed it in the waste bin

What would Baudrillard say about things like Tinder, social media, Onlyfans, etc. effect on authentic human relationships/social connection? Parasocial relationships and internet pornography are like a simulacrum of the authentic experience but don't quite capture the full essence of it. Can anyone who has read him in depth chime in?

>> No.17053484

Deleuze is better for this one. It’s the deterritorialization and reterritorialization of relationships and human interaction by capitalism.

Forgot to also mention, basically the online interaction becomes the real to the afflicted, so actually meeting up and doing shit with the person would be odd to them.

>What would Baudrillard say about things like Tinder, social media, Onlyfans, etc. effect on authentic human relationships/social connection?
First, he would laugh at your "authentic human social connection", since the "authentic social connection" is nothing but a simulacrum replacing the illusive high stakes games of seduction of more aristocratic times. He would probably think that those on social media are now self-aware of the absense of meaning in what they are doing and in their presentation of themselves and these connections are really nothing but low stakes games of seduction and illusion part of the lowest stakes game of all: fashion (though there is potential for the stakes to increase in this game. This is no doubt the path that Baudrillard would've been most interested in (especially reading his comments on Borges' lottery in babylon in his de la seduction)). Baudrillard's thought is very Bataillean in that he believes energy comes from this symbolic exchange, just as with Bataille energy comes from "the core".

good advertisement for guenon (pbuh) and evola, as this faggy mumbo jumbo will just make people insane.

>> No.17053650

This is not his opinion. He was against production as a goal, which is why he stopped being a Marxist. To "production", focusing on accumulating, he opposed symbolic exchange, focusing on destruction and giving (not at all in a christian-moral sense). You can then see how Nietzschean and Bataillean his thought is. Instead of accumulating value, he sacrificed it. To show you his positive thoughts on technology, read about his opinion on Japan's use of technology in the transparency of evil.

>Reterritorialized into pure simulation.
Is it really “pure” simulation though? This might just be me nitpicking, but with parasocial dating app relationships (anyone that has used it knows about the girls that you’ll talk with for like a month online but then you ask to hang out to have lunch together, they get super reluctant but still do it, and they are massive social retards in person), even if the relationship never manifests to being in person, there are still thoughts and messages being sent across. Then in the more advanced case of having like a cartoon gf, isn’t there still a relationship with by proxy with the artist via his/her art, as they are projecting themselves outwards with their creation?

Granted, all of this shit is hell earth either way.

I would say the only "purer" you can get is the eventual point that these things are procedurally AI-generated and the artists and performers no longer have a hand in it at all, but it's pretty close.
