Can you explain wtf he's talking about with acceleration and deceleration in the process of actualization through spacio-temporal dynamisms in chapter IV? Specifically how (page 214 of the english columbia edition)

>Types of egg are therefore distinguished by the orientations, the axis of development, the differential speeds and rythms which are the primary factors in the actualization of a structure and create a space and a time peculiar to that which is actualized.

and how it relates to (p.216)

>For if, from the point of view of actualization, the dynamism of spacial directions determines a differenciation of types, then the more or less rapid times immanent to these dynamisms ground the passage from one to the other, from one differenciated type to another, either by deceleration or acceleration.

Because it seems to me like he's suggesting that somehow the speed of a process effects what it produces, but I don't understand why that would be. Why wouldn't whatever developments of fetus that are taking place continue unaltered at any rate so long as the serial order of differenciation isn't altered? Is he arguing that a different rate of development would produce a different fetus because that rate effects the fetus' experience of time?
Thank you in advance for your consideration #1 wizard anon, and congrats on finishing D&R; it has been giving me quite a hard time.

I've nearly finished The Divine Comedy, I have around 150 pages left of Paradiso. It's been so good, and I would struggle to rank each of the three parts from best to worst, they are all equal in my eyes. I'm reading the Ciardi translation and when I'll reread it I'll read Mandlebaum probs.
