I have my doubts about that claim, if you think about it, classical writers usually survive because of a small group of elitist scholars keeping those writers alive.

Will these people be interested in Tolkien and fatasy lit 500 years from now? Maybe, but I dont think so, I except what survives will be large collections of novels and poetry, but not fantasy novels or horror novels, unless they are very well written.
