Thing is when people are shallow about a hobby they use it like fashion. They “wear” the music they listen to, the books they read, as if they’re much more interesting/better because of it. In truth you’re only very insecure about yourself so you need this thing to mask it by being pompous about your hobbies. When you get deeper into your interests hopefully you will realize how time consuming and stupid it is to police other people’s tastes and grow beyond that to just enjoy it and genuinely let other people enjoy it as well.

I'd take YA over pic related.

A girl said she was reading it, that it was "really good". I knew it looked trash from the synopsis, but I needed to know how bad it would be. Found a digital copy. It's a retelling of the Odyssey fron Penelope's perspective. First 5 chapters are just

>men are rapists
>gods are rapists
>men suck
>boys suck
>also me, Penelope, I actually wasn't faithful haha
>haha in your face homer, in your face odysseus

The writing reads like something for highschoolers, but wine aunts would lap this shit up. It's like a seething feminist got fed up with the odyssey and thought she could write anything remotely close to it, it's like doing the middle finger and thinking you've won the argument. I hate that my autism will compel me to finish it.

Of course Helen is somewhat an antagonist because the becky that wrote this hates that Helen gets all the attention for being pretty, but I don't actually wabt that attention myself of course. "Why is it that really beautiful people think everyone else in the world exists merely for their amusement". Most men literally don't read any fiction whatsoever. And the non-fiction they read is often shit. Funnily enough, I had a friend in high school who was a large normie football guy and he got really into Hunger Games saying it was the only book he read that he liked. He read the whole series.

Also it really annoys me that we are supposed to read "diverse authors" which amounts to crappy YA novels written by black women, instead of actual literature from foreign countries. I get no points for reading 20th century Japanese authors. It's all a big cartel for propping up these shit books read exclusively by lonely 27 year old women who like reading about teenagers having sex.

I know how you feel, Anon. I once had a similar experience to this. A co-worker told me that she enjoyed reading, so I told her about the writers I was reading at the time - I was mentioning writers like Nietzsche and Jung. When I asked her what her favorite books were, she told me that her favorite book, as a child, was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and then proceeded to list some YA novels - all of which had been adapted to film. Looking back upon that conversation, I now notice a red-flag that I had missed at the time: she said that she enjoyed "reading books", instead of saying that she enjoyed "literature". This distinction is key: the former implies consuming a particular medium, and the later implies appreciating an artistic tradition.

Shitposting masturbatory fantasies about owning strawman caricatured lefties isn't going to convince anyone of your reactionary agenda, it's only going to convince people that you live a sad repressed life, wasted by seething about a group you never interact with in real life, but seek out online, because you're just as addicted to being outraged as they are

I like that the author is an ugly British man and wrote a book series about a teenage Aryan superchad fucking and partying constantly and no one finds the large amount of teenage sex in his books weird. based.

I do but it's a paradoxically low kind of fun, when you examine it it's really not much better than saying "I like thing" and hearing back "I do/don't like thing", the reasons are generally just fluff

get a hobby and pursue groups based around it
if that doesn't work after a few months pursue another hobby
you'll find women in places you wouldn't expect, like tabletop games

Kek, that's like expecting a man whose job relies on not seeing the obvious problem to see the obvious problem. That essay on women- I assume you mean Schopenhauer- was written because Schopenhauer was appalled at the expansion of prostitution. He directly calls out London's problem at the time and says it's a sign of male weakness and lack of development that they cannot see they should be marrying women instead of renting them. Ironically, most of the men who cite that essay to demonstrate women as weaker, would never choose to rent a house above buying it, and will also never see the essay is about prostitution and the decay of marriage like they are being paid not to see it.

Yeah, that's pretty much a good summary of what drew so many teens into the series lol.
In many ways it was like a less faggy and more rough version of popular UK teen dramas like Skins
it turns out brits almost as much as their continental counterparts don't really care that much about putting tons of sex in teen media

Why not accept that a relationship between a man and a woman is unequal, and that's a good thing because they directly benefit from the contrast?

Women read Stephen King if they want to be intellectual. Saw one walking past me intently not looking at me pretending to read while walking which isn't difficult considering she's reading the script to a feature film with extra goofs and gafs for the greatest goyboys out there.

Women are mental children and the ones that aren't are severely autistic.
