Hey /lit/ bros, I'm a /fit/fag and I'm looking to get some mental gains to go along with my muscle mass augmentation. So far, I've begun to read some works from antiquity like Bacchylides' and Pindar's dithyrambs which celebrate athletes and the eternal glory they acquire from winning competitions. I've also been reading Callimachus, Catullus, Vergil (who could forget the immortal lines Formosum pastor Corydon) and Tibullus, all of whom expressed love for the well sculpted male. I can read in Latin and in ancient Greek so don't hesitate dropping some untranslated gems, even better if you do.

FYI anything past the Renaissance is trash so please don't waste my time or yours by recommending contemporary waste.

For you, my friend, I recommend "La Voix et le Phénomène", by Jacques "Jackie" Derrida, aka "L'homme orange". Good luck, have fun.

Not OP, but I recently read Mishima's Sun and Steel and there were some rather enjoyable and thoughtful parts to it. I've been chewing over the word/body duality for a few days now. No wonder it's always rec'd for /fitlit/.

Thanks bro. I just got a copy of Sun and Steel from libgen and like what I'm reading. I knew /lit/ would provide. This is a great companion to the lyric poets of antiquity.

>Of late, I have come to sense within myself an accumulation of all kinds of things that cannot find adequate expression via an objective artistic form such as the novel. A lyric poet of twenty might manage it, but I am twenty no longer, and have never been a poet at any rate.

>What I was seeking, in short, was a language of the body. If my self was my dwelling, then my body resembled an orchard that surrounded it. I could either cultivate that orchard to its capacity or leave it for the weeds to run riot. I was free to choose.

I must admit, I'm a brainlet when it comes to Sanskrit however it should be easily acquired once I master the alphabet. I welcome any opportunity that increases mental muscle.

My mother is a classicist and she taught me and my other siblings those two during our childhood. Get a grammar book, drill declensions and verbs and start with entry level readers. Maintain discipline and stick with it everyday.

Disappointing. Probably the result of being taught by a woman. My father, for example, not only taught me both Latin and Greek when I was a child, but Sanskrit and Hebrew too. I am eternally grateful to him.
