Why do women dominate the field of literature? Reading used to be a man's sport, the hunting field of the mind.

What changed, and what exactly brought about this change?

porn and sport grew, while religion decreased
women have more and more interest in porn and sport though so soon no one will dominate the field of literature except a few incels who will read each other works pretending to understand the human condition, read while it lasts anon

I consider YA as a part of the problem due to its similification, but in terms of what literary critics are looking for these days, the trend has been pointing towards female writers and female topics for some time, with the justification that recently, the most engaged readers have been female.

That has a feedback effect, pushing more men away from reading. After all, why read if none of the books available are of interest to you?

there are no masculine pursuits left in literature. want the purest entertainment? play a call of duty. want transcendence? read moby dick. everything else in between matters little

Women invented video games so they could distract us and take over.
That kid doing the 360 noscope? He would have been reading Goethe.
That man spending his paycheck on fornite skins? He would have spent that money on funko-pop likenesses of his favourite analytic philosophers.
That autistic child writing on the minecraft wiki? he would be writing in the margins of his copy of Stoner. Notes like "wow this is literally me"

The data have shown that women are the biggest COONSOOMers in society and so they are in the majority of buying contemporary trash. It follows that the book market would assuage the gender buying the most.
Men, on the other hand, pirate language learning text books to read Sumerian incantation scrolls. It is what it is.

My pain is endless knowing that this happens on a regular basis with millennials.
