Did you fuck up your attention span or are you reading something that isn't interesting to you?

It's really hard to tell at this point.

Easy to tell. Does that which you read, no matter how little of it, move you emotionally, intellectually?

If it doesn't then it doesn't interest you. If it does then it do

Yeah, that's the point of a novel, to move a reader in two pages. You don't read, either, clearly, so... Everyone in this thread back to PlayStation. Fucking chinks.

Oh wow, you're an actual retard huh?

Yes, a novel should catch your interest in some way, even within only two pages. If it's boring it should atleast add to the greater context, and if it's not boring then wonderful.

Choke on my nuts

Imagine putting words into someones mouth that they never even implied just so you can get mad at them.
do you have a REEEEEE quota to meet or something?

I was recently in the same boat OP, until I found another writer that fit the unspoken standards I was ashamed to have for prose (very short. written in an informational style. a bit neurotic). You should still challenge yourself to read the greats even if they're not exactly your thing, but if you also don't feed yourself with the kind of literature that's entirely 'your thing', you'll burn yourself out and stop reading entirely.
What are you reading right now that you're having trouble getting through?

I had the same problem with that book anon. Well written and very interesting but not exactly gripping. Not every great work has to speak to you.

I am currently reading Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarty. It is a good book (I think) but you described it pretty well, it burns me the fuck out for some reason. I've been off lit for quite a while now, so maybe I should just read some rather light fantasy adventure or something.
