There are anti-work anarchists like Bob Black but I think work is an essential part of human and arguably animal life and I think the only legitimate anti work argument to be made is along the lines of "I acknowledge work as a necessity for the good of the whole but I selfishly refuse to take part", which I think is far more coherent and practical than any moralizing universalist post-work position out there.

Chose to be the outsider - whether that means you are above or below the common man - and refuse to go to work. You will be surprised how easy it is to get away with.

western economies are quickly moving to a kind of "post labor" model. all value being created now is through technology. the type of work that actually compensated labor properly was manufacturing in a union. both unions and manufacturing are basically entirely gone, so fuck working, you'll never received fair value in exchange for your labor now.

but how it currently is, getting work is an impulse from the self, you aren't being employed, you employ yourself. If the state of work is supposed to be natural, then why do I have to make a conscious choice to find work, which most of the time isn't aimed at the work itself but at the money?

>> No.16582108

>>16582083
Wrong. Even working for yourself has just become a scam in order to offload R&D costs to entrepreneurs. The sole aim of tech start ups now is to raise their profile enough to be bought by google. In the past, companies had to spend money on their own R&D and foot the bill for both failed ideas and successful ones. Now they can let individuals eat the cost of failed ideas and only buy out the successful ones. Every aspect of the modern economy is rigged.

Are there any arguments for being pro-work other than doing your (little and ultimately meaningless) bit to contribute to the system?
Some people like to bring up religion, particularly that its the human condition after being cast from eden. But thats protestantism not Christianity.

Wow I'm a software engineer and just about everything in that pic is wrong for me.

> respected job with clear ladder of advancement (if I choose)
> new interesting problems that need solving every day
> I sleep 8-9 hours every day and feel refreshed. Usually work about 30 hours a week (sometimes less since COVID)
> I don't commute. Job has gone remote since COVID. Looks like it'll stay that way
> I have no debt/mortgage/finances to worry about. I moved in with my parents since COVID. I give them $500/month so I don't feel guilty and help pay groceries
> It's true that I don't have amazing relationships with my coworkers but who cares? I've friends outside of work
> I do fake a happier persona of myself but it's not that exaggerated. Nobody likes working with a dick
> I have 0 stress. Life is good and easy for me
> My mom makes me healthy, nutritious meals
> I have 1 cup of coffee in the morning every day. No smoking/alcohol (1 beer with my dad and brother on special occasions)
> No daydreams here. Recently took a 6 month sabbatical to travel around Central/South America and surf, learn Spanish, and hookup with latina cuties
> Not doing anything on the weekends is true but that's because I injured my foot surfing. Recovering from surgery as we speak (btw my job provides comprehensive health insurance. I paid a total of $100; USA fag)

I make ~$200k/year and can do this as long as I like. Sure i'll probably retire within the next decade, but it will be my own choice when I do and I'll be able to afford to do the things I want with money that I earned.

No judgement on the NEET life if that's what you really want, but there are other ways to find happiness and fulfillment in this world.

>"I acknowledge work as a necessity for the good of the whole but I selfishly refuse to take part"

Working for the good of the whole is, also, selfish, i.e. egoistic -- even working for yourself is. Just as emotionally-tied to feeling good about working [and helping the whole] and feeling good about sustaining yourself. So, I wouldn't frame it as "selfishly" when work and anti-work are both selfish.

But, people are still tied to the notion of selfishness as inherently-negative.

I have a friend like this. I think the constant working from age 18 has given him no time for learning how to spend time alone and enjoy his day. Even on his day off he seeks the "busy" of his work day by asking people to hang out and spending his whole day out, often getting drunk in the process. He has no idea how people who dont work can fill up their days without going into depressive spirals

someone once said that mental illness is largely a racket in that anyone that doesn't want to work 40 hours a week for their entire life is said to be mentally ill or might force themselves to do which would make them actually mentally ill
basically, its the idea that society decides what is mentally ill and its often at the behest of "capitalism"
I don't necessarily buy into the entire "capitalism BAD" meme but whoever said this definitely did

Hard physical labor is good. Go work outside, build an elaborate garden and tend to a flock and a herd. Butcher your own food and harvest your own fruits. Only in this way can you be free, only in this way can you achieve autonomy and only in this way can you say you lived a life of honesty.

Of course I dislike it, there is nothing in this world that has any worth and that isn't frustrating or hard. This is precisely what gives work value. But you may be too young to understand that, keep masturbating to anime and achieve nothing while thinking you hold some kind of special wiseness (you don't, every retard under the sun has once thought what you think)
