What philosophers would diavolo agree with most?

I have a feeling the author was reading Nietzsche when he was writing him. I've noticed a couple things about him that heavily point to him trying to become an Übermensch (his "Eternal Truth" for example), and it makes even more sense when you account for the fact his fate is literally being subjected to eternally recurrent death. He also talks a lot about "defeating his past self" and things like that. I would need to read more of Nietzsche to understand it better, but I think there's definitely something going on there.
