Based high-IQ Anne gives an interesting lecture discussing:
> Sophocles and Aeschylus
> Harold Pinter
> Her father's dementia
in regards to the idea of the corner, also the dramatic triad.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE7R9n8aOxg
It's making me think a lot about the essential structure of drama and the importance of this tripartite interplay of characters/concepts/struggles in great lit. Please view and comment, would love hear your thoughts.

I like some of Anne Carson’s stuff but the “artless” quality of her poetry and translation is just too prevalent these days. Read any hip journal like Pleiades and you’ll barely be able to tell the difference between poets. It’s mind-numbing, similar to the legion of Hemingway copiers in the 70s-90s (a little bit even today too). I like Hemingway but not the copiers, I wish people like this didn’t have such a stranglehold of influence, the literary scene needs more talented Byzantine stylists.

Carson is smart though and I enjoy hearing her talk about literature.

yeah i agree her translations can be overly fragmented, sometimes to the point of annoyance, but she carries a certain depth and weight that is lacking in a lot of the pseud poets who imitate her style. her translation of euripedes’ “herakles” hits like a jab to the gut.

if anyone has any carson recommendations i’d love to hear them. she has a vast back catalogue, not all of it is stellar, but i’m sure there are gems
i’m missing.

also bumping because we don’t need yet another retarded frogposting troll thread.

Carson could have been a great artist, or something. She's the living proof Academia can indeed destroys an artist's soul. At least we have Autobiography of Red.

This story of captivity, torment and escape is particularly visceral and poetic.

Plebs and patricians of /lit/, whomever you may be - if you have 30 minutes, i recommend the listen; you might learn something, or at least enjoy this complex and gripping narration.

This woman isn't high IQ. She simply wants her fellow midwits to think she is. She isn't. I actually have a tested IQ of 159 and here is what an actual big brain thinks. I just watched some snobby bitch blabber nonsense cloaked in pseudery about simple things she doesn't even understand. Stupid insulated weak academics wouldn't know what struggle was if it came up and bit them in the face. But muh dad? Give me a break! Fuck her father with dementia, nearly 100 fucking years old. Try having your dad dead at 50 from actually working. Humans die. Whoah. Imagine being a 70 year old cunt that can't cope with the perils that follow an easy life in wealth, luxury and useless pursuits.
