is the inclusion of teenage romance the greatest obstacle to YA novels being considered in a serious manner?

The fact that they are aimed to retarded teenagers is what keeps them away from that. You could easily write about romance, teenage romance, while making a good book.

>> No.16001729

No, that's the only thing of any worth in them. The speculative sci-fi, dystopian tripe with thinly veiled political allegories for world-building obsessed retards are the elements that need to go.

No, simps like lolita. The obstacle to see YA as serious literature is that YA is written by women for women, as opposed to fictions like lilta written by simps for women.

First off, I didn't say badly written. That's your assumption, that it is all badly written. But I will explain this clearly, since you don't seem to get that I don't have to read YA or care about it to have made that point:

YA in a broad overview is filled with fantasy, sci-fi, horror and otherwise irrelevant derivative and naively-speculative shit. The only ones that seem to have broken the mould, are the ones that specifically include romance.

Not only is romance a genuine human experience that speaks to everyone of all ages, it is the only theme that YA would ever have in common with adult literature.

That's not what I'm saying at all. Clearly you need to elevate YA for the sake of your ego and reading comprehension. If only they didn't include those romantic elements so your friends wouldn't laugh at your for being retarded and a girl at the same time!

You didn't even understand I was making fun of you there. Listen Miku autist. YA is never going to be taken seriously. End of discussion.
Now go read some actual literature and realise that romance is its backbone.
