Shankara is one of the most important Hindu philosophers and is sublime reading but it's good to only read him after you've already read 2-3 books in Hindu philosophy, that way you better understand the context and terminology used in his works

How would granola people and hippies and new age types and antifa cucks and potheads react to being informed that the Nazis chose the swastika as the symbol BECAUSE of it’s hindu/buddhist usage and not in spite of the fact.

How would they react if they were told that the Nazis had a fascination for Eastern religions, indian culture, and that Himmler always carried a copy of the Bhagivad Gita? Given that a lot of these left wing Nazi-haters are also the same people who fetishize eastern culture while lecturing other westerners and acting like a bunch of smug know-it-alls.

Tl;dr. The Nazis chose the swastika because they were indiaboos; how would the average liberal dudebro respond to this?

I first heard about the link between 19th century European philosophy, 20th century fascism and Eastern religions prob 10 years ago. But I wanted to know how left wing pothead dudebros would react to this fact. They’re the ones who are always trying to pigeonhole the Fascist swastika by claiming it was *originally* a Vedic symbol and implying that the Nazis were ignorant of this fact and chose their symbol on accident, while in reality the nazi swastika is intentionally suggestive of Eastern religion. Because 19th century European fascist found a lot of stuff in Dharmic religions that appealed to their political causes.

I predict that it would cause leftists to have a slight case of cognitive disonance where they have to avoid acknowledging that Christianity is the only revolutionary religion.

I'm reading through this right now. I've already read a good portion of Hindu literature, but none of them explain the cultural and social aspects of Hindu society. This book is really good if you want to understand the nuances of Hinduism and how India has changed under imperial rule. Kanchi Sancaracarya even explains why there are apparent inconsistencies in the Vedas and why they aren't contradictory.
