How do I read Plato's son, I feel like I'm too stupid for his terse writing.

>> No.15712464

Don't even bother with his shit unless you want to intellectually flex. He's really dry and repetitive, so you should probably stick with second hand sources on his philosophy.

Just read the poetics and ethics at least, they’re short and his autism doesn’t act up too much in those. From there you can go more into his actual philosophy if you want

>I never said that Islam is any better than Christianity, they're even more disgusting, but that doesn't change the fact that Crusades lead to killing in the name of Christianity.
The crusades were a long overdue response to Muslim invasion of huge swathes of Christian land over hundreds of years. Those places begged the pope to defend them and didn't get get any defense for a very long time. The crusades barely made a dent compared to what Christendom had lost.
Islam spent 1400 years hacking and slashing it's way around the mediterranean, completely conquering Spain for 250+ years, until El Cid spearheaded the renconquista.
Spain was known as Al Andalus, a piece of the Umayyid caliphate.
Cicily, a major island of Italy, was also a territory of a caliphate. As you can see, Muslims also attempted to push into France and much of Eastern Europe. Some areas of the middle east we take for granted as Muslim are in fact Christian regions that were invaded.
>Are you completely ignoring other Christian murders?
Yes? I literally made a post specifically about only the crusades. Look.

A lot of biological differences between men and women, Earth being the center of the universe and everything being eternal, the heavenly spheres and necessary circular movement, reason why some things fall while others rise (go towards aether (if that's what it's called in English))...
His logic is pretty solid, nobody can deny that.

Roman Empire adopted Christianity in 300AD by the order of Emperor Constantine.
When the Roman Empire fell the eastern half lived on as the Byzantine Empire for like 1000 more years, basically a continuation of Rome. Within 50 years the Byzantines had Rome under their control and some of the central parts of the old empire. The influence of Rome and Byzantium spread Christianity even further, and some Russians have ancient Greek and Roman names to this day.
Emperor Justinian made Constantiople (Now Istanbul in Turkey) the new seat of the empire
>Fall of Constantinople, (May 29, 1453), conquest of Constantinople by Sultan Mehmed II of the Ottoman Empire

Imagine pretending a single philospher was more influential on all of Western civilsation than the entirety of Christianty.
The combined influence of the entire Roman empire, the Byzantine empire, the power the Vatican (Rome) wielded over kings in medieval times, all this pales in comparison to Aristotle? A philospher who was unknown for the majority of the last 2000 years?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recovery_of_Aristotle
>The Recovery of Aristotle spanned about 100 years, from the middle 12th century into the 13th century, and copied or translated over 42 books (see: Corpus Aristotelicum), including Arabic texts from Arabic authors, where the previous Latin versions had only two books in general circulation

The Roman eagle is still visible everywhere in present day politcal imagery and flags from the USA to Russia. This is what spread Christianty.
Northern European flags feature the Christian cross, Englands flag, it's Kingdom Union flag, Sweden, Norway, Denamark, and Finland. The pillars of Rome still stand fools.

"Now the young are by character appetitive and of a kind to do whatever they desire. And of the bodily appetites they are especially attentive to that connected with sex and have no control over it, and they are irate and hot-tempered and of a kind to harken to anger; for through their ambition they do not tolerate disregard but are vexed if they think they are being wronged"
"The old, those past their prime, for having lived for many years and been frequently deceived or in error, they do not have confidence in anything. They are pessimistic because of their experiences, and they live in memory rather than in hope." Art of Rhetoric

When it comes to human nature Aristotle nailed it.
