Okay /lit/, I've been seeing these images everywhere now. We coined burgerpunk, time for another. What do we call this aesthetic? What is its appeal?

I actually kind of like this. It's not bad.

The funny thing is that I love really ornate, elaborate design and architecture. Like the Baroque era. But I ALSO love clean, smooth minimalism that flows gracefully from one line to the next. I feel torn between the two styles, because depending on the kind of mood I'm in I can prefer one to the other, or the reverse.

>Light and Space denotes a loosely affiliated art movement related to op art, minimalism and geometric abstraction originating in Southern California in the 1960s
>It was characterized by a focus on perceptual phenomena, such as light, volume and scale, and the use of materials such as glass, neon, fluorescent lights, resin and cast acrylic, often forming installations conditioned by the work's surroundings.
>Whether by directing the flow of natural light, embedding artificial light within objects or architecture, or by playing with light through the use of transparent, translucent or reflective materials, Light and Space artists made the spectator’s experience of light and other sensory phenomena under specific conditions the focus of their work.

minimalism is the ultimate example of the sterility of the modern age. we are so disconnected from nature that we must design our livings spaces to be its antithesis. while nature is defined by its complexity, imperfections, and transcendental nature a minimalist home is simple, obsessively rid of blemishes, rigidly ordered and bound to the material world.

I recently realized that if you look at de Chirico and fourth style pompeian wall painting side by side they share a lot. Also general consensus, does pre-modern art in a modernist building clash? Let's say I put up some Bocklin, Werner, or Gude in a brutalist mansion, would that clash too much or be good new wave futurism?
