Your daily reminder that Rowling will go down in posterity. Rupi Kaur will too. Have a nice day :)

Yes, Lady Rowling!

If she writes something else successful that isn't in the Harry Potter universe, and builds her credibility, then maybe she will. I don't dislike Harry Potter but I find it hard to believe it will resonate beyond our times. It seems more like a period piece tailored to celebrate the status quo of our soft, consumerist, liberal, cornucopian, multicultural era. Almost like the Robinson Crusoe of the decadent Anglosphere, in that it reveals and reinforces the mindset of the contemporary human... only, in our era that is an infantilised, atomized, victimized, yet improbably famous and wealthy individual in a complex and confusing world - but one in which we constantly receive gifts, discover that magic allows us to do the impossible, find simple villains behind all the darkest mysteries, and so on.

Possibly. The first book is a modern classic for children.
>Rupi Kaur will too

>Robinson Crusoe

Huh, that's a neat book to bring up in light of this argument, and it might not be a bad comparison for what people will think about the Harry Potter books a century or so from now. Everyone's heard of Robinson Crusoe, but who these days would ever actually read it? Maybe Harry Potter is going to wind up in a similar state for future people.

I don't think this word is used like that
Why not just say history?

I don't believe this. I believe they'll both be forgotten soon after something even worse shows up to take their places.

Rowling, yes. As a wealthy children's author. Rupi, only as a meme historians and sociologists look at to try and define the character of ____wave feminism and the effects of social media on the arts. Never as a legitimate poet of any skill.
