I like to read books but my attention spam is horrible. It takes me up to a couple of months to read a book because i constantly make pauses or forget what i was reading etc. I think I might legit have ADHD but I can not afford a doctor as of now. Do you have any advice on how I could solve this problem or do you maybe have some fast paste books that even an autist such as myself can enjoy? Please help me.

I have the exact same problem, I would suggest audio books as they have basically been the only way for me to "read"

Yeah I've been thinking about but my attention is sometimes so bad I can not even finish a single episode of a TV show. Maybe I should just go see a doctor.

Try meditation, it might take a while but it helps

I think I might try that. I have been meaning to for a while but I never got to it because well as I do with everything I completely forgot about it.

Meditation helped my attention so damn much. I couldn't believe it when it happened. I used to only read for 20-30 minutes at a time. Then I started to meditate in the morning before reading and I would read for like 2 hours. I think meditation just trains you to ignore outside thoughts that derail your attention, allowing you to actually focus on reading.

You probably don't have ADHD, being distractible is pretty normal now adays. If you had ADHD, you'd know. It might be depression though. I'd recommend you try shorter books, stuff like Of Mice and Men with a simple but engaging narrative. Slowly work towards longer and more complex stuff; reading is a skill on its own. Set yourself a target, and an easy one at that: "I'm going to read 10 pages of Animal Farm today." Not "I'm going to finish a book this week" or more vague and ambitious goals. God Speed
