Can someone explain to me the fascination Sci-Fi authors have for Polyamory?

Horny, immature coomers. Have you seen what the average sci-fi author looks like these days? They're all manchildren who lived with their parents before their books started to sell.

Sci-fi is about predicting the future, often hopeful, and the freedom project *currently* is aiming for a more natural lovelife completely decoupled from judaeochristian norms.

You just reminded me that the polyamorous community in "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress" by Heinlein could only survive through parasitically leeching from the non-polyamorous one lmao.

Real answer : It's strange, it's taboo, and after the New Wave, it also became a matter of politics. Your average New Wave Sci-Fi writer was quite staunchly neoliberal, though there were some who had their moments of basedness despite that (such as Ellison).

Hi there!

You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of 4chan are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!

Now, there's no need to thank me - I'm just doing my bit to help you get used to the anonymous image-board culture!

This is a salutary effort but that thing is ineducable. Just as the Left is ineducable. The only recourse is to filter it since the jannies won't do the one thing that they should.

No, New Wave in sci-fi usually means post-1968 liberal with hippie values internalized. There are exceptions, of course, but a lot of them are just progressive wet dreams.

I think it's a utopian notion that we can achieve some kind of enlightened emotional state, where we are filled with an abundance of 'good stuff' like love and none of the 'bad stuff' like jealousy, and so polyamory is a natural consequence. It's silly oversimplification of emotional dynamics and ignorance of why they exist in the first place.

There's also the hyperliberal idea that an abundance of casual sex represents a free and ideal existence, whereas I'd say it's atavistic.

Fact: every polyamorous relationship is composed of a sociopathic ringleader and their gaggle of miserable cunts who hate the arrangement, but stick with it out of an intense fear of loneliness (usually strengthened by the ringleader, through subtle efforts to implant in them the idea that nobody else could love them).

Probably just coomer fantasies. The theme of a smart but old and ugly scientist wooing a perfect 10/10 young lady from a perfect 10/10 Chad world happens quite a few times and is done by even the biggest names. Asimov in The Gods Themselves (The moon part, not the weird alien fucking part) is a good example.

This representation of poly-relationships is incredibly misleading, given that most people who participate in them are hideous trolls. I get poly has an image problem, but don't try and deceive people into thinking its glamorous when it inevitably results in one of four fathers caving their maybe/maybe not own child's skull in
