Just switched off the tv. An adaptation of "Cañas y barro" (by Blasco Ibáñez) was on La 2. I have only watched a few minutes, but I remember reading the first chapter. Couldn't keep on with the book bc of how much angst it made me feel

Josp Maria Esquirol, one of my favourite uni professors, won the national essay prize a couple of years ago for Resistencia íntima, but I still haven't picked it up. His philosophical work was great tho.

What are your favorite Spanish translations of the classics? Personally, I love Rubén Bonifaz Nuño's Iliad and Pindar, as well as Fray Luis de León's translation of the first Olympic Ode.

It's a bit difficult at first because of his complex syntax and his superposition of images till they reach a zenith. Also because of the narratives he chooses to portray, which combine actual winners of competitions with myths. In reality, Pindar hasn't had much influence on Hispanic literature (although there is some indeed), but that's maybe because of his difficult Greek (one of the most difficult authors along with Thucydides).
