Propaganda is thought-control. It is any means of trying to influence opinion that is not direct conversation.

While we are here sitting, having an actual conversation, that's not propaganda. But trying to make flashy images (or shows-all modern comedy/'news' falls in) that manipulates a person's beliefs while trying to deprive them of the ability to respond/reflect is what modern propaganda is.

I'll add onto my last point. Just because 'The Nazis Did It' does not make propaganda something inherently tied to Nazi Germany. Bernays reframed it 'public relations' (before Nazis existed) because that sounds better, especially when people don't know what it means, but DO know what 'propaganda' means. Thus rebranding it 'public relations' was a bit of propaganda, or PR.
