Once can bundle German and Austrian lit together desu the differences are negligible. They are next to each other and share a lot of the same history and culture, as opposed to the US and England.

Yes you're right, Austrian and German literature is practically the same after WW2.
But before WW1 and especially before 1871 there were definitely significant differences in themes and political messages.
