tumblr is a weird place. They fell in love with this story of a woman being kidnapped and forced into marriage and managed to make it about female empowerment. They're like that with a lot of things where they love shit that goes against all of it's believes. In a lot of the fanart Hades is a handsome goth boy so it fits into the fantasy of having a person way out of your league fall for you for no reason (which let's be honest is very popular with both genders)

And the real reason why it's popular is because tumblr is used mostly by women and gays, women and gays love musicals, there is a musical "Hadestown" which is about Persephone and Hades.
