Is there a book that addresses the fact that concept of profit as a basis for an economy is inefficient, unethical and absurd?

The first and third claims are plainly false, which leaves only the second. So, flip the burgers for free, or to break even, since that would be ethical, then.

>>14949555

Perhaps you are thinking of Matt 16:26: For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? But even this is a rational cost/benefit utility analysis, under Christian logic. Value is what you get, and it's better to keep your soul than have a pile of money and power. The point being that even the Bible acknowledges "real" profit (in terms of value) as necessity, and your rhetorical claim is stupid.

the global economy is predicated on the fact that greedy people will always exploit others to achieve their own ends. profit-seekers dominate altruists simply by acting as they feel is right, regardless of the human cost. there's not much we can do about this.

It's all 'Capitalism', sweetheart. It's the only game in town for massive societies. Commodity production and exchange via price signalling markets is the only way for this terrible, rickety machine to function. You can reorganize how the shot-callers line up, but you can't change the game. Unless you entertain the possibility of the unthinkable.

Socialists/Communists can't seem to explain what their alternative system would look like besides a State controlled socialism with some sort of rationing system, which sounds like hell.

They'll talk a lot about employers just owning everything and "getting what they deserve" but the details are cloudy, and they'll just stick to attacking Capitalism as if we don't already know it's flawed in some respects.

I wish they'd just implement communism on small scales somewhere, in a shithole country or shithole town and then make it prosperous and "equitable" so they could just point to it and others could mimic it. But the only thing we can point to is failed experiments that were propped up by genocide, forced labor and gulags and famines.
