2. If you do X bad things will happen to you

4. Bad things happened to him
5. Truly, Allah is all merciful, so specially merciful

Repeat that for 1000 pages. It's trash.

The Koran hates gays, hates women, hates blacks, is a very warlike religion, it was made by an illiterate 7th century sandnigger and is a religion of peace. Prepare to read about how the earth is shaped like a carpet, how there were millenia old men at the time of the great flood, about how chewed grass from birds turned into elephants when it was dropped from their beaks and how muhammed made the Jews turn into monkeys in Israel.

It isn't narrative based like the bible, you'll need a biography of muhammad, commentary (tassfir) and hadith to make sense of it in its fullness.

It's a collection of passages that Muhammed came up with as he went along. He ripped off old myths from Jews, Christians, and even Greeks.
His explanation of pregnancy, and the formation of the infant, is the same that Galen ( a Greek doctor) came up with.
Read to see the insanity that muslims wholeheartedly believe.

A lot of lies, changing the meaning of words, and purposeful mistranslations. Section k32 of "Reliance of the Traveller", which deals with slavery and regulates the practice, WAS LEFT UNTRANSLATED in the English edition. Lying to non Muslims is so common, they have a word for it: taqiyya. And an English version of the Quran might as well be called a Taqiyya version of the Quran.

Here are some words you may encounter, and what Muslims truly mean when they use them:
>Innocent.
Muslims always say that Islam forbids the killing of innocents. That's true, because, as Anjem Choudary has stated: «Look, at the end of the day innocent people... when we say 'innocent people' we mean Muslims. As far as non-Muslims are concerned they have not accepted Islam, and as far as we are concerned that is a crime against God.» ("BBC HARDtalk" of august 8 2005.)

>Independent thinking.
When muslims say that Islam encourages it, they forget to specify that it also distinguishes between "rational thinking" (studying the holy books to interpret them as Allah wishes) and "critical thinking" (critizing something, which is NOT allowed with religious matters). See this muslim essay: http://www.irfi.org/articles/articles_351_400/does_islam_permit_critical_think.htm

>Self-defense.
Muhammad made it very clear that any act that hinders in any way the spread of Islam is a "persecution" that allows muslims to use lethal violence.

>Peace.
Islam loves peace. What muslims don't say is that by that word, they mean that all infidels should be eliminated, converted or reduced to dhimmis, and Islam should dominate the world.

Reading it wouldn't exactly elucidates lots of the aspects of Islam you see today or in the past.
Muslims follow everything their "rabbis"(imams) said, and these imams refer to their "talmud" (hadiths, which are things muhammad did, many are fabricated, and tafsirs, which are explanations and interpretations on everything). The Quran is the center, but some important things arent even in the book.
The steps and ways of prayers muslims do arent even in the book. And they are supposed to do it five times a day.

It's boring. The book repeats and repeats things, it do seem like poem at times, but not exactly. In the time when Muhammad was alive, it was not written down. So basically the original form was some kind of oral tradition, and this is the real reason why you hear some muslims say stuffs like "you have to read in original arabic" because it was originally recited and heard, kinda like poetry recital, and that was why it is so damn repetitive.

Another thing is how banal and 'soulless' it is. Whatever you think of Osho, the guy has read immense books in his life, from all sorts of beliefs, and he said that he finds no wisdom in Quran. Thats it. You wont find things that are profound, soul-striking, frission-inducing, shakes your core or anything. There's none. It repeats the same banal and low-level "wisdom" for the plebbest masses of people, and it hooks them quite well in simplicity, with its constant threats of hell. Most muslims who were born with this threat from birth can never think against the chain.

You will find in the book lots of things that need contexts. And by contexts i mean the tafsirs, the sirahs, the hadiths. Think of how the jews have the Torah, yet they have to listen to their Rabbis, who get their knowledges from books other than Torah. The Quran at times made references that only exist in other texts, and you might get lost without those, and even if you find faults within the book but you dont read the contexts, the muslims can beat you back down with it, because he knows more about it, and can twist meanings to you if you dont know any better.

The Quran is basically divided into two parts, the Makkah chapters and Medinah chapters. The former is the meek, softer side, the latter is more bold, harsh side.
Muhammad had very few followers in Makkah but when he moved to Medinah he gains powers so that's the cause of change of tone.

The Quran also shows alternative versions of Biblical things, and even stuffs that only Arab people knew of at the time. And also adaptations of some jewish tales. Most muslims dont even know these came from jewish sources. Heck, some muslims dont even know the Kaaba was a pagan building where foreigners from other lands came and worship the multitudes of pagan idols around it.

>> No.14886807

I meant some lesser tales. If u meant the big biblical stories like Jesus and other prophets, they do understand that Jesus is in the bible, but they were taught that Xtian version is wrong. With other prophets, I dont think it crossed their minds that prophets like Joseph or Enoch are also in the bible. They dont care about other texts, EXCEPT when they try to find faults.

To them the Jews and the Nasrani (Xtian) texts are corrupted, so it doesnt matter what those texts say at all (why bother reading corrupted texts when you got the pure version given by God himself?) and it doesnt cross their mind that their religion might be formed from parts and bits from these religions that are older than their own.

Having read just a fraction of it, my impression was that the book is all fucked up. The Quran was compiled after Muhammads death, and instead of arranging all of the verses in something approximating chronological order, they put them in order of individual verse length. The first books have the first surahs have the longest verses, the last surahs have the shortest. Stylistically it reads like a schizo wrote it, it hops around from topic to topic, and has no narrative thread between, or even through, its chapters. It was written by committee and it shows, judged as a book alone it is hot garbage.

Spiritually its decent. Mediocre. It reads like psalms with less existentialism.

Nice try, but the Quran is a reminder of universal truths.
