I think he tries too hard to fit in to be actually autistic. He's always playing a role, and unlike the stereotype of an autist he has a decent grasp of the superficial affectations that other people respond to (how to dress, what to talk about). He also seems genuinely hurt when other people don't respond to him in the way he wants.

He rushes out of the party with Evelyn, steals Paul Owen's limousine and goes to a club where he does cocaine in a bathroom. He wakes up and there's a bunch of black dudes. High out of his mind he tries to fit in and talk black to a guy in front of some girls, but looks like a huge retard. He even calls him a nigger in his head.

Started reading it this week because I'm on Spring Break. It can feel monotonous in the beginning because of the excruciating detail Ellis describes each piece of clothing or furniture, and the repetitive behavior of the meals Bateman has with the other yuppies. But about a third of the way in it gets really interesting, and there are some scenes that unironically sound like somebody from /pol/ hijacked the story.

No near close, the book it's kinda like a "miniseries" of the movie, you get some extended scenes and different scenarios, it doesn't feel like Pat is the same Pat Christian portraits, Patrick in the book is less cold, more bitchy too, fun little read if you really are into the movie though, a lot of it is about clothing brands and descriptions, fun if you are into fashion and aesthetics, obnoxious if you are not

Not autistic but I would say he has some suppressed social anxiety and body dysmorphia that leads to him constantly being aware of what he and other people look like. He always knows what he personally looks like due to his rigid routine so he doesnt sweat himself as much, but he cant help but notice other people, which is why he goes into so much detail when describing how they look. It's all in his head so he goes through the process of noting other people's appearances to help him relax.

Bateman is a hodgepodge of mental illness memes from the 80s. Not a real person or even a complete personality that appears in nature.

Patrick was definitely a sperg of considerable proportions. There are too many instances of him freaking out of nothing, being weirdly petty, or just being a loser. He high fives himself for no reason, nearly has a panic attack when he talks about pepsi and the autistic as fuck, what I believe to, murder fantasies. The disconnect between his egotistical narration compared to how much of a loser he is most of the time is pretty funny. The scene with his brother was gold.
