Irony and contrarianism are so potent in our society that many people who were cringy fedora-wearing athiests a few years ago are now ardently defending Christianity in the same lazy and poorly thought out way without any solid arguments just as they did with atheism; they are not doing this because they had a religious experience (some of them will even admit to not truly believing in God) or a theologian they read converted them through solid argumentation (very few of them read anything at all) but instead they converted because it seemed the contrarian thing for them to do, because atheism was too mainstream now (atheism has been mainstream for decades so I don’t get why this switch took them so long). In ten years or less, some of them will have stayed with Christianity, some out of stubbornness as some have remained with atheism but some will have gained true and wonderful faith, but most of them will have converted to something new. They will be following another slightly away from mainstream trend because it isn’t what the most basic of normalfags believe while still remaining followers themselves rather than sincerely thinking for themselves, I expect it to be either Islam, Gnosticism, or a fusion of Pantheism with biological determinism, if I had to pick one I’d say Gnosticism. At least the catholic larp trend is marginally less cringy than the atheist pseud trend

Also, irony is a coping mechanism to distance yourself from reality because you find reality inconvenient. It only works well in well defined humorous settings, or else it's just ill faith.
