Is there any greater cope than getting a PhD?

You'd have to be a sub-85 IQ drooling moron to sell away six years of your life to be a university wage slave, reading prescribed Marxist theory, and scraping by on pennies to teach smelly, sweaty freshman.

PhD should stand for Pretty Huge Dumb (person) because that's what you need to be to get a PhD.

Doing a PhD seems pretty cozy and /lit/ desu. I might have considered it if i had a higher IQ and was guaranteed a job after.

I agree desu but I can’t name a single philosopher from the last 200 years who wasn’t at least a doctoral student.

PhD is ego inflation except for the select few studies. It's so niggers can say they've got a PhD on bumble.

>> No.14847038

>>14846943
It's pretty funny how many people say they have PhDs nowadays, it's like 1 in every 8 Bumble thots because they don't give a shit that they're going $500k into debt to work like a slave for a low-ranked institution whose doctorates are worth less than some BAs.

PhD means absolutely nothing. It's like when people say law school but they mean some really low-ranked one that's practically a diploma mill, it means nothing.

Absolutely agree. I'd rather brag about being some sort of erudite than brag about some bullshit PhD that shows I studied in a school for over half a decade.

im doin a masters. now that's fun shit. u get to specialize to the subfield you want, dont spend too long or too much, its impressive to a good many people and not just sad like hearing someone say phd.

phd just sounds lonely

Got my degree for free and am working for just around 100k a year. I'm not even a professor but the ride was too easy to do, I basically fell ass backwards into it but then again this thread looks like a giant cope from some burnout that could not make it.

>> No.14847357

I’m doing my PhD in Classics, and there is a lot of the loser burnout cope here. There’s also some really cool people and autistic nerds. But I mean, what I else am I going to do. Slave for shekelstein? I’ll get a solid stipend and my families pretty well off so I’ll be able to survive.

I wonder just how high the percentage of phds there are by people with zero interest in their actual work but solely focused on getting that title.

>> No.14848931

how hard is getting a masters/phd? i heard it more about effort and persistence than being smrt. i have basically no persistence but in some sense i already know what to write / what to explore for my masters thesis. halp me because its a long term project
