Thanks. It seems to be a very precise description of gnosticism. For those who are interested, there is the book "Vivre et mourir dans la matrice artificielle" by the aurhor Roch Sauquere. It appears to be a less precise description than "the cult of the black cube", but it's easily available on amazon, ebay, and Roch Sauquere's website.

All mentions of the book by people who owned it and read it are negative as shit. Describing it as a rather short compilation of impersonal Academic dribble with lots of stretches that you couldn't get from a late afternoon Googling session is generous.
Yet hundreds of people paid for it, some even several hundreds of dollars, OP wants to be one of those big brains.

Manufacturing scarcity so that you can price gouge. Admittedly Theion isn't the one price gouging standard editions, that's happening on the secondary market - but because that secondary market exists, people who are interested in their books want to buy their most recent publications direct at standard retail price. Because of this, Theion is able to put up new publications for pre-order and quickly recoup all of the printing costs, perhaps before the books have even been printing. Easy money. And then they can do their own price gouging on their Auric editions.
Aside from that, no reason why Theion shouldn't be able to print to fulfill the market demand, like any normal publisher. Only then, they would be judged solely on the quality of the works they published, and not this magical aura surrounding how rare they are - so it's a good business model for palming off sub-par works to chumps.
There's a difference between this business model and De Beers. De Beers also had to contend with the fact that a diamond is a diamond is a diamond, and to control market supply they had to consolidate the majority of the world's diamond mines so that they couldn't be undercut by competition.
As an indie book publisher, you're protected by IP laws, which means other publishers can't supply the rest of the market demand and undercut you. Dr Moros, the author of the book in question, died in 2017. I don't know his nationality, but it's likely he had citizenship in a "Life + 70 Years" country. So in 67 years, Theion will have no legal recourse against the circulation of free pdfs, or other publishers printing and selling the book for a fiver.
