'der Einzige' should never have been translated as 'the ego' in the first place, there already having been a perfectly adequate term for that concept available to stirner--namely, 'das Ego'. if stirner meant 'the ego' he would have used the term itself.
'der Einzige' literally means 'the unique' or 'the one and only'. the term does not signify a concept but rather an experience, or the 'act' of experiencing itself; it 'is' that vacuity or 'creative nothingness' that, as i wrote above, is 'you' here and now.
