>Hegel, installed from above, by the powers that be, as the certified Great Philosopher, was a flat-headed, insipid, nauseating, illiterate charlatan, who reached the pinnacle of audacity in scribbling together and dishing up the craziest mystifying nonsense. This nonsense has been noisily proclaimed as immortal wisdom by mercenary followers and readily accepted as such by all fools, who thus joined into as perfect a chorus of admiration as had ever been heard before. The extensive field of spiritual influence with which Hegel was furnished by those in power has enabled him to achieve the intellectual corruption of a whole generation."

Is he right?

How did he justify these claims? I don't know much about Schopenhauer, but I've read lots of Kant and some Hegel

By reading Hegel's unintelligible works

Art was usually right, a bit obsessed with Hegel though

pure ressentiment, hegel was more popular and schoppy was just screeching like an autist

It reads like an elaborate shitpost so probaby no.

Yes. Hegel was way overated, not least by himself. I only ever met one man who actually finished reading Phenomenology of Spirit, and he did not think much of it. Video related.

I doubt that between you all you haven't even put over an hour even reading into Hegel. Its a gold mine of great thought but you actually have to put time into it and other works of western philosophy to be able to be able to grasp it better

Yes, yes he was.

Watch the video, I would really be interested in your take on the points that the monk raises about the Phenomenology of Spirit. Although to be fair he does like some of Hegel's ideas, he also points out what he perceives as weaknesses.

100%

Schopenhauer saw exactly where Hegel's pseudo philosophy would lead, namely to Marxist insanity, and that's exactly what happened. Hegel was a fraud and his lectures were attended by the lowest strata of Germany intellectual society, by clerks and veterinarians and every conceivable stripe of civil servant. Hegel is the most damaging philosopher who ever lived

Schopenhauer hated hegel because he was a charlatan, not because he was famous. Kant was famous too and Schopenhauer worshipped him. Try reading something besides r/philosophy

What points in particular? He seems to miss huge points or fails to understand it entirely. Hegel criticizes the whole anti-thesis that he tries to say that Hegel uses for everything

>> No.14674217

The whole Schopenhaur hates Hegel meme is far over blown. Philosophers talked shit about everyone in their personal letters but its clear Hegel had direct influence on even his thought.

Its not something you just slap on everything and go "ah yeah x is the opposite of y and so lets just synthesis them and get b" like the dude in the video was implying.
