0 is a specific concept developing from the history of mathematics, it's simply the additive identity, addition by 0 imparts no change, and its through 0 we get the concept of additive inverses or negative numbers. A debt of 5 dollars is payed the positive sum in currency and the debt is annihilated. What IS zero? Someone might say something like the empty set, but I don't think that's satisfactory. At this point we'd need a discussion about the value of different systems of mathematical practice that idk if I or any anon here could even do justice to

If you can manage to visualize 1 without tangible reference, the same can be done for 0. It is a signifier for the absence of a signified, a null set. But the number exists, even if the substance does not.

Exactly, and that is what zero describes. Say "there exist no chickens in this barn" and "there are zero chickens in this barn." Shortening the concept to one term doesn't elevate it in mysticism you pseud.

Math comes from accounting, so to people wondering what "no apples" is, it's more, if apples are something I've decided to keep track of (apples come and go for me) and I run out, I have a pretty explicit notion of what it means to have no apples.
