When did you realize art, the appreciation of art, education in the arts and art critique were all meaningless? The only thing that matters is how much money you can make with your “art.” It doesn’t matter if it’s actually good. It doesn’t matter how much effort you put into it. It doesn’t matter if a bunch of writers and bloggers love your work, it’s all meaningless if it doesn’t help to make your life better. And the only thing that makes your life better is money.

>The only thing that matters is how much money you can make with your “art.”
Why does that matter?
Nothing matters
Who cares?

Because money can objectively make your life better and easier. You could argue that money is literally the only thing that does matter.

Why does making your life easier matter? It doesn't matter to me.

Not all art has to be commercial. I don’t sell my art for money or even show it to other people, I just make it because I enjoy making it. Improving a skill and being happy while doing so makes my life better. Simple as.

>the only thing that makes your life better is money
t. 15 year old

The only thing that makes your life better is your own efforts and the graceful charity of your relationships. Spending more time than is necessary engaging with a price exploitation machine designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator is not enriching. Making a friend who has more of an identity than the absolute bare minimum universal human qualities depicted by Disney is enriching.

Don't fall for the bait kings. OP only wants to bring you down to his level: don't let him.

No, it’s not bait. It’s 100% truth. None of this shit we all love does anything to actually improve our lives in any real way. Unless you start making a living off your work. It’s just that the actual quality of the material is irrelevant. Look to the artists of the past who are still revered to this day. What does their legacy matter to them? They’re not around to see it.

my dude, you have confused a lubricant of life with its purpose. just as love is often confused as being a goal, it is in fact a process whereby two or more individuals become interdependent. the creation of financial lubrication is a process in the advancement of life and life's many goals, but the accumulation of it as proof of your life being meaningful is to misunderstand a process as the One true goal

I would say you’re half right but I’m not saying your entire life’s purpose should be about making money. Though that would make the most sense. It’s just that money is the only thing that truly has an effect on your life.

To live a better life. Even if you were to do that, the time you’d spent accumulating money will have been a much better use of your time than consuming or creating art. Btw, I’m not saying this to discourage anybody. I’ve spent the majority of my life being obsessed with the arts and will probably do so forever. It’s just I can’t seem to convince myself that any of it actually matters anymore.

“Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.”

You, like all moderns, have confused this with the transitional elimination of desires; wealth as the sacrifice of material.

i hear you, me too. but i think money doesn't create a better life, in and of itself. picture it this way: you could make enough money from other sources to be able to propel your artistic works to greater heights, create bigger projects, involve more people, etc. money is lubricant for other life purposes, it doesn't make better in-itself

Yeah, maybe you’re right. I’ve just been feeling like I’ve wasted so much time thinking about this stuff and trying to hone my craft while I could’ve been chasing money and living in a mansion somewhere. Can’t shake the feeling that I’m ultimately just wasting time.

if you have nothing more to achieve in life, no goal to reach higher that is a miserable existence eventually you will get bored with all that money, no amount of hookers or material things will realistically please you as much as real rewards will, they will be Fake wants.

If you haven't gone through struggle you cannot appreciate the reward.
Watch that new Lighthouse movie it pretty much is this.

Honestly I find it insulting when these heathens dykes cite classic artwork only when it serves them. They have no fucking right to slander the entire western cannon only to then clap when one part of it has the same after-odor as their queefs.
