Shadows Linger is my favorite, followed by The Silver Spike. The books of the south are a huge shift in characters and conflict that I never got really invested in. Port of Shadows is a nice addition to the books of the north, really re-establishes the early tone and aesthetic.

First two are great, 3rd is alright. Didn't much care for the fourth. Stopped reading after that.

I was kinda annoyed how later on it was revealed that literally none of the undead generals stayed dead.
I dropped it when they where in fantasy india.

I enjoyed the entire series although there is an odd tonal shift after book three.

Maybe it became "current year" and so PC became a factor, forcing the introduction of required yet ridîculous tropes like strong female soldiers et c. Like the way the feminists forced Micheal Moorcock to rewrite the end of Gloriana.
