Look at him, with his semantics. Such a good little mental gymnast.

I'm not even christian, but I've read the gospels, and imagine having a religion where your saviour is clearly preaching against materialist hierarchy, against the needless complexities of religious law, against the philosophical principles and virtues being disregarded and replaced with the upkeep of empty symbolism...

And then you bow down to a man on a gold throne who's covered in gold who has his own isolated nation that hoardes some of the finest posessions in the world!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA

This. Catholicism/EastOrthodoxy were both thoroughly refuted by Nietzsche in The Antichrist

>> No.14534711

Religious War has signified the greatest advance of the masses so far, for it proves that the masses have begun to treat concepts with respect. Religious War start only after more refined quarrels between sects have refined reason in general to the point where even the mob becomes subtle and takes trifles seriously and actually considers it possible that the "eternal salvation of the soul" might depend on small differences between concepts.

Jesus was a rabi himself, just because you use slanderous language like calling them "pharisees" does not mean anything. Jesus set up the apostles and gave them power to forgive sins and lead the churches. It was some post-modern freefest where an idiot who claims to be a follower actually is.

This desu, Jesus would feel compelled to kick over tables in the vatican, it might as well be second temple judaism. Its somewhat heartening to see TLM and SSPX types moving away from the absurdities of 19th century papal claims to infallibility and calling for councils again.

Good quote, terrible translation. Try this:

The thing which the masses have displayed the greatest progress hitherto is religious war; for it proves that the masses have begun to treat concepts with respect. Religious wars arise only when common reason has been refined by disputes between sects over finer points of the doctrine; so that even the rabble begins to quibble and regards trifles as important, even considering it possible that the 'eternal salvation of the soul' may hang on to small differences between concepts

You are a non-Christian and your opinion is irrelevant to any intra-Christian discussion. Especially such an unhinged opinion .

Jesus himself gave rituals of baptism and the Eucharist. Should we just throw those out the window and stop revering the living god as king, on account of modernist egalitarian sensibilities?

pretty much. The idea that anyone can be whatever they want because muh feels is pure ignorance. St. Paul's writings are the majority of the New Testament though. He's not some random guy.

>Jesus claimed to be King of the Jews
Oh boy here we go, here go

(John 18:33-18:34)
Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?"
"Is that your own idea," Jesus asked, "or did others talk to you about me?"

(Matthew 27:11)
Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, who questioned Him: "Are You the King of the Jews?" "You have said so," Jesus replied.

(Mark 15:2)
So Pilate questioned Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" "You have said so," Jesus replied.

(Luke 22:70)
So they all asked, "Are You then the Son of God?" He replied, "You say that I am."

(Luke 23:3)
So Pilate asked Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" "You have said so," Jesus replied.

(John 18:37)
"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."

Its pretty clear that most of the times Jesus was asked about King of the Jews/Son of God to Pilate that it was something that OTHER PEOPLE MADE UP ABOUT HIM, not what he said himself
>b-b-but other parts of the Gospel say he was the Son of God, and that he was the king of the Jews
Its obvious that this was an exaggeration that other people made up about him, and by the Jews who jokingly referred to him as the "King of the Jews"
But I know I cant convince you Christards anyway, so im leaving this post here for other people to see it

Thats the point lmao, Jesus didnt fulfill those prophecies. The Jews wanted an almighty King to lead them into a glorious uprising against the Romans and establish the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, but he did none of that.

Jesus's "Kingdom was not of this world". In this world, he was just a man, and his Kingdom is a Kingdom thats within. So the Jews Jokingly said "All Hail the King of the Jews" to mock him. They also told Pilate he claimed to be a King so he would be Crucified.
The romans couldnt care less if some Jew claimed to be the Messiah, so the Jews told them he claimed to be a King instead, so he would seem like a threat to Caesar and have a reason for Crucifying him

Unironically true. The Messiah is not a Messiah inasmuch as he acquiesces to the world by fulfilling prophecies. Perfect fulfilling would simply mean his absorption into the very world he means to deliver.
