Thoughts on Crowley? Is it true he retroactively refuted all of 20th century philosophy?

He was a spook and a meme. Thelema is the biggest joke I've ever seen in occultism.

Occultism is just the inversion of spirituality. It's a massive cope. It mainly attracts narcissists and the emotionally unstable. Why are you unhappy? Because 99.9 percent of everything you do is for yourself and there isn’t one. This is why spirituality is healthy and occultism isn't; one worships at the altar of the self and the other worships at the altar of the Self. Crowley was retroactively refuted by Lao Tzu hundreds of years ago

Even L. Ron Hubbard knew this guy was a fraud and retroactively cucked him.

Read his Confessions: an autohiography.
You’ll get a taste of what he is. He really really loved to exaggerate. It gave him a lot of joy.

In that he showed that all belief systems are copes and larps that can be exploited by charismatic conmen, he was actually confirmed by the 20th century.

Crowley's primary usefulness today is to serve as a litmus test for people who talk about occultism-- if a person speaks highly of Crowley or name-drops him, then you're talking to a noob or poser.

You are right, but your assessment is incomplete. The anti-Crowley stance is often hipsterism, as shallow as the pro-Crowley stance, assumed by people making a pivot toward something they consider more obscure and therefore more 'real' after going through a Crowley phase and realising his popularity and being turned off more by that than anything Crowley wrote.

Thelema as a self-help manual leaves much to be desired, but the 20th century was subtly shaped in part by Crowley, so much of the present goes back to him, and much of the past found its present expression in him also. I think he engenders such bitter resentment among people because despite being evil/a fraud/retroactively refuted by XYZ/ that he was successful in his workings, if not his personal life, and you can find traces off it everywhere, from popular culture, high art, to the intelligence community, to NASA, to the cults that followed.
