The previous book is not bad, and I'm saying this as an atheist. This was also my first exposure to Jordan Peterson (and even today I haven't ever watched any of his youtube videos, I only read the book because Felix said that it's worth reading). The only problem is that sometimes he humbles a bit, but there are interesting ideas there too. I'll definitely read the new book.

the fact that he now flaunts his recently acquired wealth with three piece suits and leather loafers displays his true goal. In his old lecture videos he was super casual; now that he is known he feels he needs to strut his stuff like a woman in her prime.

His rule about raising children is one of the most based and redpilled in the book. This is why zoomers are such a failure, parents today don't know how to say no and punish bad behavior.

Go read the book and write an actual critic instead of posting meme excerpts from jokes.

My parents would always tell me know and my mom in particular would talk about punishment on a daily basis, and yet I'm still an autistic loser who browses the worst board on 4chan. How do you explain that?

I can't say this enough, go watch his university lecture series, start with "Personality and its transformations" and watch them in their intended order. Its leagues above book 12 rules for life. The lecture series are aimed people with presumably higher IQ while the book is aimed more at the general public so its dumbed down and dosn't really have the depth his lectures have. That goes for most of the talks and interviews he has done these last years as well. Its very much a case of "his old stuff was better" or "he was better before he was famous"

You know that just as there can be to little punishment for bad behavior there can be to much punishment for bad behavior, or even punishment for good behavior? Or even just punishment for the sake of punishment cus your parents are fucked in their heads? Right?

Peterson has dedicated a good portion of his professional life to helping the irredeemable, most worthless, egotistical, vicious, and self-righteous young men on the internet. That includes many users of this site. It comes as no surprise to me that it got to him eventually.

Peterson might be too stupid/afraid to explain what his neurotic drug-addled mind was grasping at with 'postmodern neomarxism' but I understood what that meant immediately.

In this context Neomarxism is the way that instead of economic class based analysis, they've moved onto rage, gender, sexual orientation and identity, etc like those were the new proletariat. Many Feminists are explicit about how their 'class' analysis of gender/sex came from Marx and they claim that radical feminism has to be Marxist or socialist of some type. And Postmodernism is the skepticism about the empirical results of various sciences, calling them specific discourses created by power structures that reinforce oppression, while never subjecting that view of reality to the same skepticism(Foucault is the only one who did this really by calling out Acadmia's discourse as another power structure). IQ studies are an obvious example of this but Peterson can only bring those up when defending Jews.

Now that's obviously not really what the commonly accepted definitions of Postmodernism(good luck getting people to be clear about the diverse set of things called postmodern) or neomarxism, which is just more recent versions of Marxism rather than 'cultural marxism' or the change of focus from economic class to other identities. However, there is a real thread connecting all these people, the Marxists and the Postmodernists should not a priori really give a shit about gender/race/etc one way or the other, but they in fact pretty much all fall on the Progressive side of the debate, with increasing purity as time goes on and the universities are consolidated into one perspective. These Progressives are Peterson's real target, and they did in fact borrow from both Marx and postmodern theories, but on a very superficial, sort of opportunistic level.

he can't really come out and explain or even maybe understand any of this because he's some retarded conservative boomer pseudo-christian literally mentally ill drug addict narcissist. But it's still clear that he noticed something happening in academia, he was a professor at UofT after all, and his scattered mind searched about for something to call it and 'postmodern neomarxism' is what it came up with, something vaguely related to the actual phenomenon of Progressivism, which would require much more than a 4chan post to explain, but not treading too closely to any topics too taboo for either his mind or public opinion to touch on.

It's not finished yet, but he did a hour and a half overview and after an exceedingly boring introduction about his writing process he's right back to talking about conquering the dragon so you can get the gold.

This book is a companion to "12 Rules an Antidote to Chaos", it is "12 Rules Beyond Order" on the virtues of chaos and the dangers of order.

The first rule is not to criticize institutions.
